FIRST STEP | Initial Consultation
We will sit down together for an initial getting to know you. We can meet at a local coffee shop or do a facetime/skype call. The purpose of this initial consultation is for me to get to know you and your fiance. It’s really just a getting to know you time. I’d like to meet you and get a feel of your history and expectations for your wedding day. I’ll try to learn what priorities or values you both have as we talk about how you want the ceremony to look and feel. We might talk about ideas to personalize your ceremony to your own tastes or the special needs of your families. I’ll also talk to you about the benefits and options of premarital counseling. Premarital counseling is not required but I do recommend it to every couple.
SECOND & THIRD STEP | Premarital Counseling
If you both choose premarital counseling we will begin with a relationship assessment at Prepare/Enrich. This is a very helpful online assessment that you both take separately. The purpose of this assessment is NOT to determine if you’re compatible. Instead, it provides invaluable insight into areas of strength and potential weakness. My wife and I took this assessment and found it very helpful. Based on your assessment results, you will receive 2-4 feedback sessions where I will analyze and provide beneficial feedback that will help you thrive in your marriage.
FINAL STEP | Plan and Prepare Ceremony Details
Finally, we will sit down and go over your ceremony making sure everything is where it should be. We will plan any special and unique parts of the ceremony and discuss your wedding vows (traditional, personal, or other). If you like, I will walk through the ceremony at your rehearsal. I will arrive an hour before your wedding, mostly to help calm nerves. After officiating the ceremony I will sign the marriage certificate that you provide and mail it to be filed. And that will be it. Congratulations!
